Eid’l Adha declared a regular holiday for tomorrow

Apart from Eid’l Fitr, Eid’l Adha is one of the most important days for those who practice the religion of Islam, something that recognizes the willingness of the prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son Ishmael in obedience to the command of God.

Many Muslims go to Mecca today to celebrate such a holiday but are currently delayed due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

In this regard, the office of the mayor of Cotabato City first said that outdoor prayers will not be allowed in this day’s celebration. However, it will be allowed in mosques, buildings and other closed spaces in accordance with quarantine restrictions.

“Worshipers should wear masks and observe social distancing while participating in Eid’l Adha prayers in mosques and other buildings where it can be done,” said Cotabato Mayor Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi.

Because today is a regular holiday, employees can get their full salary tomorrow (basic pay + cost of living allowance) even if they do not work.

“For work performed on a regular holiday, plus 100% or a total of 200% of the employee’s daily wage rate (Basic pay + COLA),” according to the rules of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
