President Rodrigo Duterte has now ordered the Department of Justice (DOJ) as the government’s principal law agency to form a panel to conduct an investigation into allegations of corruption and anomalies at the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).
Based on President Duterte’s Memorandum, the panel will include conducting a lifestyle check on PhilHealth officials and employees and auditing corporate finances.
While conducting the investigation, the panel may recommend to President Duterte to implement a preventive suspension on any PhilHealth official to ensure that there is no obstruction.
Within 30 days after the formation, the panel is instructed by the Secretary of Justice (SOJ) to submit their findings and recommendations including filing a case against those found to be involved in corruption and anomalies in PhilHealth.
