(Update) Two consecutive loud explosions rocked Jolo, Sulu.

Authorities said a bomb first exploded at 11:58 a.m. in Brgy. Walled City, Jolo.

The PNP reported that the second explosion occurred at around 1:00 pm not only far from the first explosion (100 meters) also in the neighborhood of Barangay Walled City just in front of DBP Bank.

They said it was done by a suicide bomber.

The first explosion was just near the Red Cross Chapter.

A motorcycle with an improvised explosive foreign exchange (IED) was parked and suddenly exploded near a parked 6 × 6 military truck.

In the initial information from Lt. Col. Ronald Mateo, civil military relations officer of the 11th infantry division, killed six and wounded 40.

The suicide bomber was among those killed.

It was reported that up to nine people had been killed.

As many as 18 soldiers were wounded, while 22 civilians were also wounded.

Some grocery stores just happened to be near the site of the explosion.

According to information from Capt. Rex Payot, spokesperson of the 11th Infantry Division, Philippine Army, conducted their routine patrol and assisted the soldiers in the COVID-19 response when the explosion occurred.

So far, the entire Metro Jolo has been put in a lockdown at the same time as the area has been cordoned off to investigate and find out if there is still danger to the people and the authorities.
