Nueva Vizcaya, already considered by the DOH as the epicenter of COVID-19 in region 2

The Department of Health (DOH) region 2 is now considering the province of Nueva Vizcaya as the epicenter of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) in the second region.

Cauayan, Dr. Rio Magpantay, Regional Director of DOH region 2 that Nueva Vizcaya has 351 COVID-19 positive, 222 active cases, 119 recoveries and ten deaths.

Of the said number, most were recorded in the town of Solano which also has a community transmission so they were subjected to Modified MECQ until the thirtieth of September.

Dr.Rio Magpantay said they have conducted aggressive mass testing in areas where there are many cases of COVID-19 mainly in the towns of Solano, Bayombong, Bagabag, Quezon, Dupax Del Sur and Aritao.

When the results of the mass testing come out, it is expected that the recorded COVID-19 positive in Nueva Vizcaya will increase.

DOH region 2 has also sent five nurses who will serve as augmentation force in Solano, Nueva Vizcaya which will last until December 2020 to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the said town.

DOH region 2 has also allocated 10 million pesos for the nurses deployment program for three months.

As a result, DOH officials and local officials in Nueva Vizcaya have agreed to tighten the implementation of health protocols in their jurisdiction.
