‘All time-high’ COVID-19 cases today, hit nearly 7,000

MANILA – The total number of people affected by coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the Philippines has reached 464,004, according to the Department of Health (DOH).

Today, the department reported 1,196 new cases of the disease. But it does not include the data of the eight laboratories that did not submit yesterday.

“8 labs were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Data Repository System (CDRS) on December 22, 2020.”

Quezon City leads with the highest number of new victims of COVID-19, reaching 123. Rizal followed with 84; Manila (74), Davao City (54), and Batangas (49).

There are still 24,984 healing or active cases. The total recoveries increased by 564, bringing the total to 429,972 from the disease.

Total deaths, increased by 27, bringing the total number of deaths due to COVID-19 to 9,048.

“There were 7 duplicates removed from the total case count. Of these, 4 recovered cases. Moreover, 7 cases that were previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths after final validation. ”
