The two Philhealth officials today wrote to Senate President Vicente Tito Sotto III to inform them that they could not attend the hearing on corruption in the agency.

Based on the official’s medical certificate, he said he was undergoing chemotherapy at Cardinal Santos Medical Center and the doctor advised him to leave because he was vulnerable to infection.

The 67-year-old Morales was diagnosed with Diffuse Large B cell Lymphoma and had to undergo six cycles of treatment.

Even PhilHealth executive vice president (EVP) & Chief Operating Officer (COO) Arnel de Jesus also wrote to the Senate to inform them that he will not be able to attend the second hearing on Tuesday due to the “unforeseen emergency.”

De Jesus also sent a medical certificate from the Asian Hospital and Medical Center.
