2 Filipinos killed, 6 injured in twin blasts in port of Beirut, Lebanon

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed that two Filipinos were killed and six others were injured in the blast in Beirut, Lebanon.

According to the DFA statement, the Filipinos were inside their employers’ house when the explosion occurred.

The Lebanese health ministry had earlier reported that 78 people had been killed and 4,000 injured.

Based on the initial investigation by the authorities, a warehouse containing the confiscated explosives allegedly exploded.

Lebanese Prime Minister Hassan Diab reported that 2,750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate had been stored in the warehouse for six years.
