Duterte wants to dissolve PhilHealth in Congress

President Rodrigo Duterte wants Congress to abolish or abolish the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) amid widespread corruption among state health insurers.

President Duterte said it would be better to dismantle it because no capitalist will shoot or buy from a corporation that has no money.

“Itong PhilHealth, I am going to propose to Congress to abolish the— Kung i-privatize mo naman, susmaryosep, walang pera. Sinong insurer niyo? Sabihin ng mga kapitalista sa insurance, ‘kami ang magbayad? Wala kayong pondo,’” said President Duterte.

President Duterte also wants a clear shuffle or revamp on PhilHealth.

“Hindi na puwedeng itong mga tao na ito there already. Entrenched na. Talagang either I’m going to revamp, consider everybody resigned there and if there’s the structure we can slowly rebuild.”

President Duterte announced that he will start “streamlining” at PhilHealth today.
