Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte has confirmed that she is still in good health after confirming that she has been diagnosed with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).


Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte has confirmed that she is still in good health after confirming that she has been diagnosed with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

In a statement, Belmonte said she didn’t feel any symptoms of infectious disease.

So far, her office, including the common areas of Quezon City Hall, has been subjected to disinfection.

The QC Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (QC-ESU) has also begun contacting tracing procedures.

The mayor said she expects the virus to be affected by visits to health centers, hospitals and communities and areas under special concern lockdown.

Belmonte, however, hopes her condition will serve as a warning to others about the infection.

“You can be sure that the service and activities of your local government will continue despite my quarantine. Although my actions are limited, I will remain focused on the situation and needs of the entire Quezon City, ”the secretary said.

Belmonte also maintained that he was strictly adhering to health protocols, but was still infected with the virus.

Quezon City is the largest city in Metro Manila with the highest number of coronavirus cases in the National Capital Region, according to the latest census, it has reached 3,793.

The death toll has climbed to 247 in the city after recording eight more deaths from the disease.
