More than 450 families in Bicol celebrated the New Year despite floods
LEGAZPI CITY – At the evacuation centers, 451 families or 1,232 individuals in some provinces in Bicol were greeted by the new year.
This follows the floods experienced in some parts of the region due to the incessant heavy rains, in conjunction with the change of year.
In an interview by Bombo Radyo Legazpi with OCD Bicol spokesperson Gremil Naz, about 33 flooding incidents were reported in Sorsogon province including the towns of Juban, Casiguran, Bulusan, Gubat, Matnog, and Bulan.
There were 22 recorded incidents of flooding in Camarines Sur particularly in the towns of Lagonoy, Siruma, Ocampo, and Buhi.
The Vel Amor subdivision in Legazpi City was also flooded.
Apart from this, up to 15 landslides were also recorded in some parts of Sorsogon, two in Camarines Sur and one in Catanduanes.
It is currently being investigated whether there are reported injuries or missing persons in the areas that have recorded strong floods.
