Phil Army 48th Infantry Battalion and Floridablanca PNP personnel rescued 70 Mountaineers, hikers and cyclists during the two-day search and rescue operations that were stranded due to inclement weather caused by the Low Pressure Area the country is currently experiencing.

According to 7th Infantry Division Spokesperson Maj. Amado Gutierrez based on the report of 48th IB Commanding Officer LtCol. Felix Emeterio Galvez had 23 individuals rescued last Oct. 11 in Barangay Macawat, Floridablanca who were immediately turned over to the officials of their localities.

Galvez said the hikers went to Malalatawan falls and here they were stranded due to bad weather.

On October 12, soldiers and police also rescued 47 individuals in Sitio Telepayong, this is the boundaries of Brgy Mawacat, Floridablanca, Pampanga and Subic, Zambales.

Rescue personnel were immediately given food and first aid by rescue teams.

7th ID commanding general MGen praised. Alfredo Rosario the soldiers in their effort to rescue the stranded individuals.

The general also advised mountaineers, hikers and cyclists to be vigilant in their activities especially when the weather is bad.

703d Brigade Commander BGen. Andrew Costelo that the safety and security of the people is the priority of the soldiers.
